Conditioning:
Remove the cap and immerse the pH51 in MA9015 maintenance solution for 2 hours to activate the electrode
CALIBRATION:
Unscrew the battery compartment located on the top of the pH-meter and perform the following two-point calibration procedure:
Acid calibration: for pH measurements below 7 pH:
- Immerse the electrode in the buffer solution pH7.01 (M10007)
- Allow the reading to stabilize and then, using the screwdriver, turn the calibration screw "7" until the reading reads "7.0".
- Rinse the electrode with tap water. Immerse the electrode in the buffer solution pH4.01 (M10004).
- Allow the reading to stabilize and then, using the screwdriver, turn the calibration screw "4" until the reading reads "4.0".
Alkaline calibration: for measurements above pH7:
- Immerse the electrode in the buffer solution pH7.01 (M10007)
- Allow the reading to stabilize and then, using the screwdriver, turn the calibration screw "7" until the reading reads "7.0".
- Rinse the electrode with tap water. Immerse the electrode in the buffer solution pH10.01 (M10010).
- Allow the reading to stabilize and then, using the screwdriver, turn the "10" calibration screw until the readout reads "10.0".

Changing batteries: The pH51 has the BEPS system (battery error prevention system) that prevents the reader from taking wrong measurements due to dead batteries, turning off the instrument:
- To change the batteries, unscrew the battery compartment and replace the three 1.5 V batteries, paying attention to the polarity of these.
- Make sure the ring is in place before screwing on the compartment.
- Batteries should only be changed in an area not dangerous and with the type of battery specified in this manual.
